Which Home Renovations Will Give the Best Return on Investment in 2019?

Are you thinking of Remodeling? Whether you’re getting ready to move walls to transform your kitchen or add a new wood floor to the main level, it may be helpful to know what kind of return on investment your home renovation might deliver.

According to Remodeling magazine’s annual Cost vs. Value report, not all home remodeling projects deliver the same bang for the buck.

Now in its 32nd year, researchers evaluated 22 most common home improvements in 136 markets nationwide. They asked contractors what their fees for these jobs were, and spoke to real estate agents to learn how these features would boost a home’s market price. They then used those numbers to determine the return on investment in 2019.

The report found that in 2019, Americans should anticipate making back 66.1% of the money they spend on renovations—a small increase from last year’s 65.8%.  Remodeling magazine’s newly-released Cost vs. Value Report.

Updating lighting. Lighting is the jewelry of the room. Bright, modern light fixtures can make an immense impact. We love Ultra Design Center, which will be opening in a new location spring of 2019 in the IDC Building.

If you are looking to replace your appliances, a significant consideration for most people updating their kitchen is the color. Stainless Steel is still the most common, but there are lots of choices these days. We love BAC Appliance Center for the vast array of models and knowledge. They also have working kitchens where you can try different models.

Countertops are key considerations when updating a kitchen as the utter size of the space rules the room visually. Although granite is still popular, solid surface products like soapstone, quartz, and even concrete are leading in popularity.

Flooring The kitchen is the busiest room in the home, so the floors must be beautiful and durable. Hardwood floors are still the most popular but should you install site finished flooring, pre-finished flooring, solid or engineered hardwoods?  Looking for accurate and unbiased information– we recommend and use  T and G Flooring.

Paint is the cure to many ills, including the kitchen. It also has the best return on investment when you consider the low cost and ease of the task. With today’s open floor plans, make sure your kitchen colors flow with the rest of the house.
