Color affects us in different ways. Some folks have been drawn to soothing neutrals during the pandemic, while others desire bright and uplifting hues.

But what do the experts say? The folks like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore who predict the color of the year based on current trends in pop culture, fashion, technology, and design worldwide.

According to the experts, it looks like shades of green will be leading us into the new year!

EVERGREEN FOG SW 9130 BY SHERWIN-WILLIAMS

Soothing, subtle, and a perfect shade to freshen up any space

“Evergreen Fog SW 9130 is a versatile and calming hue, a chameleon color of gorgeous green-meets-gray, with just a bit of blue.  It’s a simple but sophisticated wash of beautiful, organic color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade.”

In a turbulent world, many of us seek nature and its calming qualities; I believe this is why Sherwin-Williams has selected Evergreen Fog SW 9130 as their paint and home decor color for 2022. This medium-toned grayish-green suggests moving away from cool neutrals and vivid tones that have dictated paint color trends.

“Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated wash of color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade.”

“Evergreen Fog inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, in a press release.

Wadden suggests complementing the color with warm, earthy neutrals, such as beige, camel, or coffee brown. Then bring in additional layers of texture with natural materials including wood, leather, jute, and rattan.

For a polished look that veers more glam, try incorporating a mix of metal finishes like warm brass, light gold, or matte black.

OCTOBER MIST 1495, THE BENJAMIN MOORE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2022

This gently shaded sage, evokes the silver-green stem of a flower. It anchors space as it creates a canvas for other colors to blossom.

The Benjamin Color of the year selection team lead by Andrea Magno, director of color marketing and development, selected this years color because they felt that folks are looking for a means of expressiveness. They crave individuality.

“As the spaces in our homes continue to evolve, we uncover more opportunities to express our individuality and leverage the power of color to design environments that serve different functions and styles,” said Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing & Development. “October Mist 1495 and the corresponding Color Trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colors, while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project.”
