Our clients, Sarah and Alex bought their dream home about a year ago in Broomfield, CO with high aspirations of a bright and inviting kitchen remodel. With their growing family, the functionality of the kitchen, dining room and front room were not cutting it for them. There hired our designer, Lindsay to help them design a plan to remodel the main floor.
The goal of the project was to break into the existing unused dining room and butler’s pantry spaces to create one large, open space for the kitchen and breakfast nook. Sarah also had always dreamed of a vast island in her kitchen.
Some of the challenges that we had to work through were supporting walls that had to come down to make the space as open as they wanted, working with an oversized window in the existing dining room, and of course budget.
Scope of work and Wish list:
- Complete Kitchen Remodel Including New Cabinetry and Countertops
- New Appliance Package
- New Flooring Throughout the First floor
- Updating Stair Railings
- Paint Entire Home
- Lighting and Fixed Finish Selections
- Sink in the Island
- Gas Cook Top
This Bright and Inviting Kitchen Remodel Required Support Beams to Open the Space
The contractor was able to put supporting beams into the ceiling so that we had a completely open floor plan to work with. This enabled us to place an eleven-foot island in the kitchen, complete with farmhouse sink, trash pullouts, microwave drawer, cookbook storage, and most importantly a unique pull-out cabinet for the dog’s food and treats.
We ended up putting in a smaller window where the existing dining room window was to make the flow of the cabinetry work. Which meant new siding and an exterior paint job that the client wasn’t expecting. The project took about six months from the first meeting to the final walk-through.
I am sure that you would agree that Lindsay did a fabulous job of recreating the space to create the bright and inviting kitchen remodel Sarah and Alex had dreamed of. She created a very functional floor plan and selected some fun color and material selections. Now the kitchen is a “center point” for the whole house.
