Whole House Renovation

Whole House Renovation – Mountain Retreat – Breckenridge, Co

Our client’s objective: The Breckenridge home was considered by many beyond repair.  But our client dreamed of making this interesting but outdated mountain home into a warm and inviting mountain retreat.

How we met their expectations: This house was originally constructed in the 60’s and needed extensive upgrades to all mechanical systems to make it function in the 21st century.  All the beam construction was retained with all new electrical, plumbing and hot water heat added. All insulation and windows were upgraded to meet current energy requirements.  Stairs and railing were brought to current standards and decks were added around the existing footprint to expand the living area. A different color of shag rug in every room, a “conversation pit” and avocado green appliances represent the previous interior finishes.  The interior was completely redone with new stone,  carpet and paint throughout. New lighting brightened the home and provided a backdrop for their collection of art and unique memorabilia. Kitchens and baths were expanded and completely replaced. The illusion of a window was created in the kitchen by using a window frame and a mirror.   The wife’s taste for contemporary was addressed by adding Esmeralda green tile countertops to the kitchen and glass tile accents to the bathrooms.   An existing wagon wheel light fixture was fitted with contemporary glass pendants and is now a focal point in the stairwell.

All this was half the cost of building the same space new!
