Homeowners Paul and Susan Valas.

The Valas’ purchased this Denver Square home when they became empty-nesters.

They loved the historical elements of the home but the style was too traditional for their tastes. They hired Cassy Kicklighter Poole, Kaleidoscope Design, a Designer Premier Designer to incorporate their preferences for contemporary furnishings and eclectic artwork.

Working with Nest Architectural Design and Angela Coleman of Spec Design/Luxe Classic Kitchens, Cassy worked with the Valas’ to transform this 6,500-square-foot Wash Park house.

Cassy loved that the Valas’ were not afraid to switch things up.

In every house you go into, you’ll see a wall color and a white trim,” says interior designer Cassy Kicklighter Poole. We did a fun switch up by flipping the upstairs guest room from the predictable approach with off-white walls and green trim.

The Sputnik-inspired light fixture from Fusion Lighting and Design and walls in Benjamin Moore’s Knoxville Gray HC-160 set the tone for the dining room.
